From Broken Checkout to Easy Cake Orders on Shopify

Candied Bakery

When local fav Candied Bakery came to me, their WordPress site was showing its age. It looked tired, and worse, the checkout often broke. Every glitch meant a frustrated customer, a lost sale, or an email/phone call the team didn’t have time to take.

We made the move to Shopify, a platform built for selling online, and I designed and built them a fresh new site from the ground up. The goal was simple: make ordering a cake as easy and reliable as possible, for both the customer and the team behind the counter.

Then came the sweet stuff. Customers can add a personal message to their cake as they buy it, so there’s no chasing details by email after the order comes through. They can also choose their pickup date right at checkout, which means the kitchen knows exactly what’s needed and when. I also refreshed their order notification emails so customers get clear, on-brand confirmation of everything they’ve ordered.

The result is a site that finally works as hard as the bakers do. If your online store feels clunky, unreliable or like it’s creating more admin than it saves, this is exactly the kind of project I love sinking my teeth into.
