tidy your digital presence in under an hour

So you’re back from a lovely little rest and ready to inject some love back into your business. But… where do you start? We all know that starting the new year off with a clean desk is ace - and I love that for you. Let’s do the same for your digital presence and give it some love at the start of the year.

At the very least this list will give you some stuff to work on within your business to make sure that you are starting the year off well – with your best digital foot forward.

check your bios

Look, I know you probably haven’t looked at annnnnnny of your bios since you created them. Most business owners are running on several platforms.

Here are some things to look for.

  • Have you moved and need to update your location?

  • Does your pitch still make sense or have you changed 6 times and never updated your Instagram/TikTok bio?

  • If you're using a linktree or similar - are all of the links working? Check each one and make sure you remove any that are no longer relevant

  • We want them to all be singing the same tune, and working together. They need to go to the right links so take 5-10 mins to check all of this stuff is working how you want it to be.

check your website on mobile

Has your website been optimised for mobile use? Does it look as amazing as it does on a desktop? If not, then this is a massive missed opportunity. Mobile use is growing every day – in fact, according to Statcounter, mobile usage accounts for 42% market share in Australia last year (vs 54% for desktop). That’s almost half of your website traffic! If people aren’t getting the best experience viewing your site on mobile, it’s time to address this one quick smart! Here are some things to look for:

  • Are the headings and body copy text a good size for reading on a mobile?

  • Are the images in the right places?

  • Can you navigate around your website easily on mobile?

  • Can exit out of any pop-ups with ease?

Review your welcome sequence

2024 is all about owning your marketing channels. Especially after the social slump of 2023. When you have a new subscriber join your mailing list - what do they see? What kind of information do you tell them about your business?

If you already have a welcome sequence set up, the moment is now to review and freshen your content. Some things to consider are:

  • Does your intro to yourself and/or your business still ring true - and importantly, are all of the links working?

  • Ways to work with you - are these clear and current?

  • Do you explain how you prefer contact to be made? Is it via booking a call - a reply email or a DM? Tell your new subscriber what your preferred way is.

Check your google presence

Google yourself. What do you see? 👀

There are two things here. The Google Business profile and the way that your website is indexed on Google.

Here’s something to look for in your Google business profile:

  • Are your trading hours correct?

  • Do the links work?

  • Is your contact number correct? (😱 please say yes!)

  • Do you have some recent images in your Google profile?

  • While you are here, reply to any reviews that you might have missed too.

For your website indexing on Google:

  • When you look at how your website is indexed on Google does it reflect what you are currently doing?

  • Are there old pages that are indexed that need to be removed?

  • Does the copy (words) or page names need updating?

Check your website footer

First up - check all of your links are working. Like actually go and click on each one. Does it connect where it’s meant to?

If you have a website that you’ve been updated in 2024 it’s worthwhile updating the copyright year on your website. Many folks believe this is a sign that the website is well-maintained and looked after. But it goes a little further than that to ensure that you are protecting your content. If you want to add the copyright symbol on your website it’s Option+G on a Mac or Ctrl+Alt+C on your PC, then just add the year.

I hope this helps you refresh your digital space for 2024. If it is time to overhaul your digital universe. I can help you get all of your digital channels working together to put your website at the centre of your digital universe.
