5 clever ways to reboot your content

Repurpose content and find new ways to connect

Stuck for content ideas? Probably because you feel like you’ve spoken about it all before – am I right? It’s time to reboot your content! Wanna know why? It’s all about reinforcing the brand message. The truth is, many brands reboot their content over and over. After all, the followers that you have today are always changing and evolving.

We hear from clients that they struggle to create new content all the time. But what if it wasn’t new content every time… what if you rebooted, reworked and refreshed your existing content. Let’s go through some of the ways you can change your content up to beef up your posts.

#1. Work those key messages

If you’ve been through the process of setting up your digital strategy, then you’ll have clearly identified what your content pillars are. These are key messages that form the basis of the content that you put out into the universe. They’ll reinforce what your brand is all about and why you do what you do.

Working from your content pillars gives a solid base to create your content. That doesn’t mean that you can’t chuck in the odd meme with a cat into the mix – it just means that you’re very much banging on about a clear set of messages that are near and dear to your business. Suddenly, creating your content is easier! Winner! No more throwing your hands up in despair wondering what to write about. Get your point across in a clear and concise way that taps into your follower’s pain points.

#2. Get analytical

A great place to start a content reboot is to go through your analytics and see what’s been getting attention. Was it a meme? A post about you? A new product that you launched or maybe a reel. See if you can spot any themes there. What content really connects with your followers?

Once you’ve found one that did well, see if you can rework the post and go with it again. That might mean, changing the image for a video, rewriting the content from a different perspective. Or simply updating the theme of the post for today’s world. Perhaps there’s a meme that nails the sentiment of the message. These are all great ways to reboot your content.

#3. Reboot up your value proposition

Your value proposition is the guts behind why your brand is best for your customers. Is your current value proposition nailing it? Do people get what you do and why do they need your business in their lives?

Rebooting your value proposition really makes sense as we slowly emerge from the effects of the pandemic. It might just need some changing up to keep with the times. Set an annual reminder to check-in and review it – does it still do the job?

#4. Switch channels

Are you a podcast fan? Podcasts are such a great way to connect with a whole new audience. Shoot a message out to your favourite aligned podcaster and ask to be a guest on their channel. Or better yet – start your own podcast and boost your content and interest. It’s a fantastic way to instantly connect with a whole new audience. Let them see just how amazing you are!

Have you tried the new Instagram feature, Threads? It’s a new way to connect with your audience in a more real and thought-bubble moment. You’ll have a bunch of new followers in no time.

Or maybe it is time that you started to figure out Instagram reels or how to get on Tik Tok. There are heaps of great tutorials to show you how to really nail this content – which doesn’t have to involve crappy synchronised dance moves.

Publish your blogs in new places! Maybe you do a blog takeover or do a blog swap with a complimentary business. Not only will you generate backlinks which your SEO will adore, but you’ll also connect with some fresh-faced audiences.

Medium can also be a great place to introduce your blogs and thoughts to new audiences. It’s a great place to reach connect with readers who maybe weren’t directly seeking you out - but they enjoyed the content that you produced and they start following your work.

#5. Push it to an inbox

Fire up that tired old mailing list and get a newsletter out. Bring your followers back to your post by referencing it again in your latest newsletter. Your followers might not have seen that post the first time around, thanks to those mysterious algorithms! So this could well be the first time that they are seeing this post. Either way, it helps to get the point across or at the very least it will reinforce the message.

You’ve really got nothing to lose. Get your reboot on today and fish out all of those wonderful nuggets of content that you’ve created over the years. Repeat and change up your rebooted content as much as you like. Get those messages out there to let people know what you’re about and what you do.
